This cutie gained fame through the hapa-haole song, “Little Grass Shack.” Many people who know no other Hawaiian word, can pronounce this one! The honu is an important part of Hawaiian culture, legend, and ecology. This honu was carved by Juanette Baysa as she was learning the art of traditional carousel animal carving. Nene Namaste Hawaiʻi has at least two endemic seahorse species, but only the moʻolio of the Carousel of Aloha is big enough to ride!
